Lydia Calio Strunk Partner

Lydia Strunk spent just under a decade as a House Republican Leadership aide, most recently serving as Deputy Floor Director for two Speakers of the House of Representatives: Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). In her capacity as Deputy Floor Director, she advised members of the Republican Conference on the rules and procedures of the House. Lydia was also responsible for many of the Speaker’s institutional floor roles, including State of the Union and Joint Meetings of Congress.

 

Receiving accolades from both sides of the aisle upon leaving House Republican Leadership, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer said of Lydia, “It’s a testament to Lydia’s skill and professionalism that she has earned the respect not only of her own colleagues on the Republican side but also those who work on my staff and the Democratic staff on this side of the aisle.”

Prior to her role as Deputy Floor Director to the Speaker, Lydia served as a professional staff member for the House Rules Committee, under Chairman David Dreier (R-CA). As a professional staff member, Lydia was responsible for advising members of the Committee and the Conference on House Rules and worked with a broad portfolio of committees, including: Energy & Commerce, Appropriations, Transportation & Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Agriculture. Lydia started her career on a Capitol Hill as a floor assistant in the Republican Cloakroom, under then Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH).

 

During her time in House Leadership, Lydia developed strong relationships with members of Congress and staff on both sides of the aisle. In addition, she possesses a deep understanding of House Rules, parliamentary procedure and the inner workings of House Leadership and Congress.

 

A native of Washington D.C., Lydia attended Georgetown Visitation High School and has a bachelors degree from Gettysburg College. Lydia lives with her husband, Jeff, and her two children in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
