Tim McKone SENIOR ADVISOR

Tim McKone is a respected political strategist with over 30 years of experience in politics and government affairs in Washington, D.C. An expert on telecommunications policy and legislative advocacy, he is well known for building strong and diverse coalitions and reaching across the aisle to achieve successful results on some of the most contentious legislative fights in American history. His experience and reputation as a consummate government affairs professional have earned him recognition as one of The Hill’s “Top Lobbyists” for twelve consecutive years. Tim is the CEO and Founder of McK Strategies, LLC, a political consulting and lobbying firm that advises clients on critical issues before Congress and the administration.

Prior to partnering with Roberti Global as a Senior Advisor, Mr. McKone served as Executive Vice Present for Federal Relations for AT&T in Washington D.C. In this role, he oversaw all legislative efforts with the U.S. Congress and multiple Presidential administrations for AT&T. During his 27 years of service at the company, Mr. McKone led AT&T through some of Washington’s biggest legislative battles – most notably, the 1996 Communications Act, which paved the way for the company’s entrance into long distance telecommunications services; the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, which included critical telecommunications immunity provisions; and the successful use of the Congressional Review Act to overturn the Federal Communications Commission’s privacy rules in 2017. Other key milestones include Mr. McKone’s oversight of AT&T’s 2021 advocacy resulting from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which significantly reduced the corporate income tax rate; and most recently, Mr. McKone’s leadership of AT&T’s strategy and advocacy that facilitated passage of the Infrastructure and Jobs Act of 2021, resulting in historic funding for broadband deployment.

During his tenure at AT&T, Mr. McKone also managed legislative strategy and strategic planning for several industry-defining mergers, including Southwestern Bell’s (SBC) acquisition of AT&T in 2005, as well as the purchase of BellSouth, DirecTV, and TimeWarner. Following each transaction, Mr. McKone led successful government affairs team integrations.

Prior to joining AT&T (formerly SBC), Mr. McKone was a partner at Davis Manafort, a government relations firm in Washington, D.C., representing various clients, including SBC, COMSAT, Fruit of the Loom, and Fannie Mae. He also served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Independent Insurance Agents of America (IIAA) where he was responsible for legislation affecting independent agents across the country.

Mr. McKone started his career working for former Senator Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ) and has been appointed to advise congressional and presidential campaigns throughout his career, including as the Director of Congressional Affairs for the Dole for President campaign, an advisor to the Bush-Cheney campaign, and a senior advisor on the McCain presidential campaign.

Mr. McKone holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Arizona.
